This is a late 1950s/early 60s era varsity/school letterman style jacket worn by someone who attended McGill University’s School of Engineering.  The jacket is lettered at the back with “McGill Engineering” - otherwise, there are no crests or other designations.  The jacket is made in red wool with red and white striped elasticized banding around the bottom.  It has white roping down the raglan style sleeves, white leather trim along the opening of the slash pocket at either side of the jacket and closes with seven white snaps down the front.  It is lined in a red nylon fabric  The label reads “Made Expressly for Lord’s Sport Shop Montreal” - Lord’s was a supplier to Montreal’s schools of academic sportswear.  The letters are sewn on, but only the stitching for the word “Engineering” is visible on the lining.  The size label is torn out, and although it should fit a medium size, US 40, maybe a 42, please note the measurements provided.  Measurements are as follows:  

Sleeves:  29 1/4” long from neck seam to the edge of the cuff

Seam Inseam:  18” long 

Chest:  48” around 

Bottom:  34” around, unstretched, stretches out to 40”

Length:  25” long 

The jacket is in very good condition - there is a bit of circular wear to most of the white snaps and some slight soiling, so the jacket would benefit from a dry cleaning, although wearable as is.  Also, the white trim, except the leather, has yellowed a bit, but this is normal.  Otherwise, there are no pulls, no holes, pronounced wear or stains - this jacket has been very well kept over the years.

This is a wonderful vintage McGill jacket - great acquisition if you’re a McGill engineering student!
